So, this week there has been a lot of talk about GE Capitol cutting off it’s funding for businesses in the firearms industry. This was not news to us, we have known that they have been killing the lines of credits for retailers quietly over the last few months, and it is just recently that this has become public knowledge.

This does not affect our operations in any way. We have absolutely zero interaction with GE Capitol, our banks all stand solid behind our operations.

As the media began to run with this story, we got a few calls and mentions in media outlet. Pretty fair treatment – we were pleased.

Marketplace – does the gun you want cost too much? There’s a loan for that.

Unfortunately action is being taken in a few blue states that seriously compromises the second amendment right of citizens. Connecticut is the latest.

Today Gov. Dan Malloy signed a broad new package of gun control laws. Included are magazine capacity limits and much broader definitions of what rifles fall under the states assault rifle ban.

At GunFinancing.com it will never be our intent to punish or deny services to individuals who live in states that are passing laws of this type. We fully understand that they may completely disagree with the actions of their legislators. But, until the law settles down and we can actually figure out what is and what is not legal in Connecticut, as a company we cannot risk shipping any firearms to the state.

Thank you for your patience.

First off, if you are interested in buying a gun right now I don’t think that the right word to describe your emotion is panic – that is a construct of the media.

What you are doing is trying to do is purchase a firearm while there is availability. Personally, I do not think the the gun ban proposed by Feinstein has a chance in hell of passing, but there mere talk of it has started to disrupt the supply chain.

At GunFinancing.com we work with a network of wholesalers including all the biggest players. Additionally we are continually working with brick and mortar shops to find inventory. We are NOT out of guns, but AR platform rifles are getting more difficult to locate. Best guess is a few weeks to a month for supply to be put back in place.

Go ahead and get approved, we’ll start looking for the gun you’d like, and when it becomes available you will have first dibs.

Whenever the topic of financing an item comes up you’re going to find all kind of opinions… So, let me lay out a bit of our philosophy here at GunFinancing.com

First, let’s get the obvious out of the way – if you have the cash to buy what you want right now, just go buy it! You will always get the best deal when you simply lay cash on the counter.

Unfortunately, for many having that available cash is just not an option. Monthly budgets are set, you’re getting along fine, and you feel that you have an extra $100/month to put towards the AR you’d like, but you just can’t get to the point where you have $1200 squirreled away at any one time.

So, you think about financing. What is the best deal? If you have a good credit history you can probably get a VISA card or some other form of revolving credit from any one of the dozens of offers that land in you mailbox each month. Interest rates will probably run you somewhere in the 8-12% range. That is, if you have good credit.

This begs the question: what do we offer here at GunFinancing.com?

The market which we target is those with “B” credit financing. For whatever personal reasons, you have dinged up your credit. We have experience working with banks that provide this type of financing, and although it took a couple months we negotiated terms and got firearms approved for financing through a handful of lenders. The nature of the credit market in the United States is that if you’d like to rebuild your credit, you have to find someone to borrow you money and then pay it back on time.

Yes, financing an item can cost you more in the long run, but you do have some control over that. For our firearms, the initial selling price is a bit higher than what you would see in a cash environment. This is due to the fact that banks charge a “discount rate” to originate and process the loans – this mean that they may only pay us $.75 on the dollar for contracts that are written. Banks charge this to cover their potential losses, simple statistics. As for interest, there are a variety of options. We offer zero percent for 6 months, 12.9% for 12 months, or traditional revolving credit lines at prime rate where there is just a minimum monthly payment due so the term varies.

Back to our original question: Should you finance a firearm? Educate yourself, understand that financing virtually always costs a bit more than operating in a pure cash environment. But, if you want the firearm now and do not have the available funds, we can probably help you.

The tragedy at Sandy Hook affected us all at GunFinancing.com. Guns were used in a hellish way, and we are in the firearms business.

It will be quite a while before the actual events of the day become clear, but it is a certainty that the rallying cry for “more gun control” will be quick and loud.

Some in the industry shown their true colors. Cheaper-Than-Dirt immediately suspended all online sales of firearms. Dick’s Sporting Goods immediately canceled all orders of Troy AR platform rifles. With these actions they quickly identified themselves for who they are – they are retailers trying to make a buck with firearms, they are not gun people.

We believe very strongly in the second amendment. We will not fold or waver, and will proudly join the fight against any spurious gun control measures the politicians think up. Action definitely needs to be taken to prevent future tragedies of this sort, but we fall squarely on the side of believing that just one armed and trained individual in that school could have saved dozens of lives. The threat will always be there, it is time to prepare for it. A security system that consists entirely of a locked door is simply unacceptable.
